Trinity's application and information
TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
Trinity Episcopal Church was built in 1884. Prior to Trinity’s formation as a church, a Sunday
School was held in the Rectory of Christ Church Parish which was located in Lancaster
Courthouse. As this Sunday School outgrew the Rectory, Trinity Episcopal Church was formed
to care for these children and their families.
The Charles Louis Hammack Scholarship Fund was announced in October 1989. Following
Mr. Hammack’s death in December 1988, the Vestry of Trinity Episcopal Church established
the Fund in his memory. In 2013, the Scholarship was renamed the Hammack-Hayden
Scholarship, in honor of a lifetime member, Eleanor Brent Hayden. Mrs. Hayden served as
chairman of the Scholarship Committee for many years.
The annual scholarships are provided from investment income and designated gifts to the
Hammack-Hayden Scholarship Fund. They are a tangible means for our church to encourage
students and to continue Trinity’s original misión, “to care for children”.
The following are current Scholarship Committee members: Nancy G. Chilton, Jane M.
Dunaway, Craig H. Giese, and Diane J. Smith.
